Awake's second cd, Tidal Wave can hardly be considered a demo anymore. Spanning over fifty (!) minutes of music it could even be called an album. Listening to the ten songs on Tidal Wave, we hear all possible ways to play rock music. With more time in (a better) studio this time and taking care of the sleeve designing themselves, Awake has taken a big step towards maturity.

The song 'Tidal Wave' was written just after the recording of Daylight. Played live for the first time at the Red Ears Festival in February of 1998 (with Siger on lead vocals) the song became an instant classic and is still played at every gig. Recording a full album in a real studio has been a fun adventure for the band. Many details of the album songs, like the massive backing vocals (4 people recorded twice) in 'Tidal Wave' and the scary death grunt-like vocal (done by Siger) in 'The Words', were added only during the recording sessions.

Unfortunately Egbert left Awake in January 2000 so Tidal Wave never got a fair chance. After all, what's the use of selling a demo if your current singer isn't on it? It is however still a very strong piece of work and it will grow stronger the more you listen to it. There are still some (actually plenty :-)) of (signed) copies for sale.
