The most important thing about a band is of course the music. Since Awake has had so many line up changes (see 'History') the musical direction has changed several times. At first Siger, Maarten, Guus and Danny started playing together because they loved the 'classic rock' from bands like Iron Maiden and Def Leppard.
Singer Egbert added his 'grungy' style vocals (influenced by bands like Pearl Jam and Incubus to the mix to create a fresh style of their own.

The arrival of Johan on vocals brought Awake closer to the 'classic rock' again (Queensryche) but he also added his love for Radiohead and Muse. With him Awake started to experiment with synthesizers and computers.
With the arrival of their latest singer Michiel the musical direction of the band will change again. Work on two separate demos is underway and the first one we hope to release at the end of November 2005.

Daylight (1998) Being their first cd, Daylightmarks the beginning of Awake's conquest of the world. Recorded mostly in one take (bass and vocals were added later) and spanning half an hour it clearly demonstrates the band's talent for writing solid rock songs and fusing many different viewpoints into one unique style of their own.
Tidal Wave (1999) Awake's second cd, Tidal Wave can hardly be considered a demo anymore. Spanning over fifty(!) minutes of music it could even be called an album. Listening to the ten songs on Tidal Wave, we hear all possible ways to play rock music. With more time in (a better) studio this time and taking care of the sleeve designing themselves, Awake has taken a big step towards maturity.
For a Day (2000) With Johan as a new singer the sound of Awake has of course changed a bit. Unfortunately the band hasn't had the time yet to record a worthy successor to Tidal Wave. A good start has been made however. To give the fans a taste of what they can expect a demo was recorded using Johan's home-recording tools. The result is For a Day.
Don't Stop (2001) Since the arrival of Johan Awake has been very busy. A new song was recorded in October 2000 to appear on a promotional cd to be released on the Power Records International label. The song is called 'Don't Stop' and it is a perfect example of Awake coming alive on stage. An actual video was shot for the song in July 2001 and in October of the same year the band took to the studio again. This time the band recorded just three other songs. Together the four songs will appear on a mini cd called Don't Stop.

Listen to these songs in Real Audio Format at the Internet Underground Music Archive (IUMA).
