Being their first cd, Daylight marks the beginning of Awake's
conquest of the world. Recorded mostly in one take (bass and vocals were
added later) and spanning half an hour it clearly demonstrates the band's
talent for writing solid rock-songs and fusing many different viewpoints
into one unique style of their own.
Today Daylight can best be seen as a historical document and you can read all about the writing and recording of the songs in our history section. These are the first songs Awake has ever written. Three of it's songs: 'Beyond the Clouds', 'Sunset' and 'Interpretation' were played live at Awake's maiden gig in February 1997. In 1998 Egbert had joined the band just two months before recording the demo. Egbert came up with the title and idea for cover art. The first song 'Beyond the Clouds' received some airplay on a local radio station but soon after the band decided they wanted to record a proper cd. In the summer of 1999 they took to the studio again to record Tidal Wave.
A part of the recording costs for Tidal Wave were payed for by the earnings made from Daylight. Of the 120 copies made, the band has by now sold about 100. A (signed) copy can still be yours. Just e-mail us and we'll send you one for just 5 Euro (incl. P&P).
