I was born in 1970. I've enjoyed some education and as a result spent almost a year in Odense in Denmark; the latter of which I liked a lot more than the former.
My musical education has always been band-based, i.e. no formal education whatsoever. I've played in various local bands like The Hooded Crow, Alpha Alpha, Laat Maar and Heavy Klepto before joining Awake in '97. See Koen van Krimpen's site on bands in Groningen. Read the book too :)
I like a lot of music, ranging from Strapping Young Lad to Alex Parks and from New Model Army to the Flower Kings.
Tough question. I tend to listen to a lot of stuff I'll never (be able to) play myself. Bass players that have been responsible for either getting me started, made me despair of my own (lack of) playing technique or just plain amazed me are in nearly chronological order: Nick Beggs, Steve Harris, "Moose" Harris, Les Claypool, Tony Levin,Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Jonas Reingold to name a few.
I like reading, (bad) horror movies and other visual nonsense (Charmed, Holby City, Casualty, Doctor Who), some computer games and building websites :-)
